AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY:
A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

I am sick and tired of Liberalism rearing it's ugly head everywhere I look, trying to mainstream the most ludicrous and ridiculous ideas in to society. It is bad enough that Hollywood, CNN, NBC, CBS, and print media (New York Times, LA Times, Washington Post, and a majority of newspapers across the country), but now the libs are invading non profit organizations.

Many of you do not know, but two years ago, as a financial consultant for National City Bank (one of the nations 10 largest banks located in Cleveland, OH), I started a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life- "Bald Bankers for a Cure." I single handedly raised more than $1,100 for our local Relay for Life chapter of the American Cancer Society, by shaving my head completely bald, in honor and support of anyone who has ever gone through, is going through, or will ever go through cancer treatment and loses (lost) their hair. I was able to organize 12 branches of National City Bank in the Akron, OH market to support "Bald Bankers for a Cure."

I believe that the American Cancer Society should have one goal- find a cure for cancer.

I started "Bald Bankers for a Cure" because my dad had defeated cancer when I was a freshman in high school, and selfishly, I never want to go through what he went through. I thought I was helping out a good cause. I thought I was raising money for a truly honorable and worthwhile organization. A few months into the planning (I was also on the planning committee), the ACS started circulating a petition to have a smoking ban in Ohio. I refused to sign this petition, and I made it known that I was involved with the ACS to raise money for cancer research to one day defeat cancer, not to push through a liberal agenda of making smoking illegal in the state of Ohio.

Please allow me to flash forward to about two months ago. I received an email from the American Cancer Society urging me to contact my Congressman/Senators and tell them to support S-CHIP. For those of you who do not know what S-CHIP is, it is a bill that would expand socialized medicine to families making up to $84,000 and defines "child" as someone as old as 24 years old. This bill is a bogus, frivolous, morally obscene bill that gives "free" socialized health care to families who already receive high quality health care through their employers. Again, for those who are unaware, Medicaid gives "free" health care to poor children, so we do not need another mammoth, liberal, big government entitlement program that raises taxes on those of us who actually work for a living.

I use quotations around the word free, because Medicaid and all government entitlement programs are only free to those who receive the services. Believe it or not, entitlements actually do have a cost, and the costs are

For those of you who do not know me, I have a passion for politics, but I also have a deep desire to find a cure for cancer. I respect the American Cancer Society's efforts to raise awareness and money for cancer research through the Relay for Life, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and the countless other outreach programs that they offer to our communities. That being said, not another dime should be used by the ACS to advance any political agenda (left or right). The ACS should focus solely on finding a cure for cancer. Bottom line, every bit of time, energy, money, and resources that the ACS has/receives should be directed solely to the curing cancer.
