McCAIN WINS FLORIDA: Senator John McCain won the Florida GOP Primary. Is this good news or bad news for the Republican Party? Senator McCain may be a Republican, but he is absolutely not a Conservative. Unless he pulls a complete 180, he will be fairly labeled pro-amnesty, anti-First Amendment, pro-tax, and he will wear the label of "liberal" Republican. A good friend of mine, David Cunningham, when speaking about former Ohio Republican (RINO) Governor Bob Taft, says "If I wanted a Democrat, I would have voted for one." I fear that a lot of people will have the same or similar feelings about Senator McCain. Rumors have it that Rudy will drop out of the Presidential race as early as tonight, and officially endorse McCain. Florida Governor Charlie Crist, Senator Mel Martinez, and Fred Thompson have also endorsed McCain. Why are so many seemingly rational Republican politicians supporting someone who is on the wrong side of Conservative values and beliefs on so many issues?
If I can say one good thing about McCain is that at least he is not Hillary or Hussein-Obama. At least he is not that liberal. Hillary does have a huge negative public opinion about her, and Obama is definitely a beatable opponent. If Senator McCain wants the support of Conservative Americans (42% of Americans consider themselves Conservative, while 19% consider themselves Liberal), than he must embrace illegal immigration reform, he must support making Bush's tax cuts permanent, he must remain pro-military, and he better start discussing Christian values (pro life, pro family, pro school choice). If McCain can complete a 180, embrace Christian Conservative values, distance himself from liberals, provide a clear, positive vision for America, and stop behaving like a RINO, then he will gain the support of XEKE.com and Conservatives across the country. To answer the original questions "Is McCain's win in Florida good or bad for the GOP?" XEKE.com will vote for the Republican in November, but we will not actively support or campaign for a Republican nominee who acts like a Democrat. zm 1/30/2008 |
