True Colors At XEKE.com we appreciate hearing from our readers. We've received notes from readers all over the political spectrum, some are encouraging, and others are full of profanity. The correlation between Liberals and swearing is both phenomenal and undeniable. Certainly there are Liberals who are capable of forming an argument without swearing and profanity, such as Alan Colmes, Lanny Davis and Ed Schultz to name a few. What I find discouraging, though, is the volume of political Liberals who resort to swearing and four-letter-words right off the bat when attempting to make their point. To prove I'm not making a straw-man argument, consider the following notes we recently received (I've edited the responses with asterisks):
"Bush won the 2004 elections for one reason, the electorate thought that HE F***** IT UP, LET HIM FIX IT. Guess what He hasn't fixed it."
And another example of a Leftist responder:
"Y'all are pro-G_d and sh** but still have the nerve to say you're pro-science?!?!!?!? Make up your mind." The nature of political discourse in America today is in the toilet today because it's not worth engaging in debate with folks who use profanity instead of logical thought. In the case of the first example, I'd begin my counter with: Do you really think 53 million voters said, "I'm not happy with Bush, but I'm going to vote for him out of spite so he can deal with the mess he created?" Did this particular responder follow his own logic and vote for Bush to let him "fix it?" Or did he vote for John Kerry and invalidate his own argument? To the second comment, consider all of the groundbreaking scientists, the minds upon which modern science rests, who at the very least acknowledged God in some way, and many of whom were Christians: Galileo, Newton, Boyle, Faraday, Mendel, Einstein, Kelvin, etc. But is it really worth it to engage these intellectual midgets? Whenever an argument is made, for instance an assertion that there is a Liberal bias in the American mainstream media, the internet Liberal thinker counters with something like this (an actual response): "What f***ing liberal media a**hole?!?!?!?!?! ... Anyone with half-a-brain who watches the media coverage on TV and the newspapers would realize just what a free pass the repugs get on everything and anything they say or do and how the Democrats get punched for anything they say or do. The media run the govt.. The US media, being so BLATANTLY conservative, it's hard for the Democrats and the Liberals to drive home their side - fearing the repercussions." What does one say to such a base thought process? Let me be clear, XEKE.com does not take the position that those Americans who hold different opinions than those found on XEKE.com are not true Americans. Liberals who arrive at their opinions and conclusions after a critical analysis of the facts, while they'll find disagreement, will be treated with respect at XEKE.com. The Liberals who sit behind their computers and throw out F- and S- words, call the President "Bushitler", and assert that religion and science are mutually exclusive relegate themselves to the trash-bin without any thought or regret on our part. It's unfortunate that these folks believe that they can convince anyone of their ideology with the bilge that pours out of their minds and mouths. I'd be happy to listen to a thoughtful argument and engage in appropriate, civilized conversation. But the Liberals about whom I'm speaking (and you and they know who they are) cause anyone who is either on the fence or of a different political persuasion to completely disregard everything they have to say, even if they are correct. I'm sure there is a correlation between their denying the presence of God and the ease with which they use language that sailors on furlough wouldn't even consider, but I'm a veterinarian by profession, not a psychiatrist, so I'll not go there. We've said it before; XEKE.com exists to promote the Conservative and Christian ideology. We're not ashamed of our opinions and we're happy to discuss them. And above all, we'll discuss them in a civil manner, without profanity. To the (few) thoughtful Liberals that cross our path, thank you for your time and consideration. While we may have different ideas, I appreciate caring along with you for the America that we both love. To the foul-mouthed responders, feel free to continue to write, but know that when the first profanity laced comment is read, your entire thought will be dismissed. 7/30/2007 |
