God Bless. A message taken from Kristy on Kaleb's MySpace page: Kaleb is the only son of Kristy and Josh. At five months old, he experienced Shaken Baby Syndrome by the hand of a babysitter. He has been in the ICU since May 9th, and is fighting for his life. This page is set up to help Kaleb and his family. Kristy and Josh spend mostly all of their free time at the hospital aching for a moment to hold their now sixth month old son. More pictures, photos, information, slideshows, etc. can be found at www.myspace.com/197879646. 6/12/2007 STRIDES Kaleb is making strides every day and amazes both Josh and me, too! He is so pleasent to be around and so joyful. He smiles all the time now and is so content. His speech therepist has started to give him water to swallow. At first they started at 1.5mls and he coughed instantly. They said it was a good cough though and it showed that he is protecting his airway really well. So then they went to a baby spoon full of water and he swallowed it within 3 sec. This is VERY GOOD becuase there are a lot of kids that are 5 years post injury that aren't able to do this. The amount of water has gradually increased and now we are at 3mls and he is swallowing it well and within 3 secs. Amen!!! Praise God Kaleb is Healing! The other day Kaleb saw himself in the mirror and got EXTREMELY excited! He would turn away and squeal/laugh and then look at himself again... This continued for about 5 minutes. He is really starting to gain head control and is able to hold it at midline. His PT and OT are so impressed with the progress he is making. I think that it has a lot to do with the hyperbaric Chamber. This is a miraclous machine and it helping him heal SO MUCH! If you want more info on the chamber go to www.hyperbariccenter.org. The other day Kaleb haden't seen me for most of the day and I went and laid next to him and he got so excited and smiled real big! Then he started to babel to me. It was like he was asking how my day was... It is the cutest thing. He does the same to Josh when he's been at work the whole day. It is nice to see that he recognizes us and shows us that he loves us. I have been asked several times if we have gone to trial yet... the answer is no. I don't know when we will go but I don't think it will be anytime soon do to the defense. I am sorry I don't have any more info... Praise God for all that he has done for Kaleb and our family! 2/5/2008 September 2008: Well, we have been a family of four for almost 3 weeks now. Wow! Kaleb is doing great. At first I don't think he was too sure about his baby brother but now he's enjoying him. When we first took Kaeson home and he would cry, Kaleb would react to him crying. It was a new noise for him and he would start raising his voice as if he were asking "what is that noise". I believe that the two of them will be best friends. Today we put Kaleb and Kaeson on the floor next to each other and Kaleb had his left arm extended and could feel Kaeson next to him. Everytime that Kaleb put his hand on Kaeson's face, Kaseon would move his hand up to Kaleb's. Kaleb would get so excited and let out a big squeal! This continued for about 10 minutes. Kaleb was also turning his head as if he was looking at Kaeson which is another reason why I do believe that he sees. It was fun to watch Kaleb interact with Kaeson. Needless to say the two of them will be doing a lot of floor time and tummy time together. Another great accomplishment. We were finally able to put Kaleb in a crawler. This is a device for special needs kids where it helps train them how to crawl. We have had the crawler for over a year but haven't been able to use it because Kaleb didn't have enough head control for it. He does now though! He is able to hold his head at midline for about 5 minutes now before getting tired. This is such a big accomplishment for Kaleb. He is getting so strong and we are so proud of him. I will be posting pictures of him in the crawler. We are so busy now with both Kaeson and Kaleb that I appologize that my updates aren't more in depth this time. Kaleb still has 10+ therapies a week so we are always on the go. I am still getting questions about the trial. I cannot say much about this other than nothing has happened yet, still and we are quite upset over this. Dragging this out just continues to victimize my family again and again. But we are closer to trial then we were a year and three months ago. This is the website where you can keep track of what is going on. I hope this settles everyones curiousity.
