Human Rights?  Wrong!

Part of the Honesty Series

As a senior in college down in Nashville, I heard one of my favorite bands was doing a benefit concert.  There was no charge, they were just accepting donations for a group called Amnesty International.  I knew nothing of Amnesty International (AI), but if this good band was raising money
In fact, I'm offended at the thought of groups like AI existing and insinuating that they’re “more” for human rights than other Americans.
for them it must be a good organization, right?  I was told at the concert that AI worked around the world to promote human rights and to find those wrongly accused and defend them in foreign lands.

Since that time, “human rights” has been a buzz word, especially since the War on Terror began.  It’s a good thing that there are groups like AI that identify the suffering and disenfranchised and work to improve their lives.  Or so we’re led to believe.

Scratch the surface and look a bit deeper and you’ll find that these “human rights” watch-dog groups are simply fronts for anti-Americanism.  A search of AI’s website reveals the following:

  • Equivalence between Hezbollah and Israel.  (When in reality Israel is a nation-state, Hezbollah is a terrorist club; Israel is accountable to international law, Hezbollah kills their own women and children then places them in front of TV cameras for the West to see.  Get my drift?)

  • Headlines such as, “The pain of Guantánamo children, Children inside Guantánamo, and those outside whose relatives are detained, have all suffered the consequences of the US-led ‘war on terror’.”  (When in reality, those detained at Guantánamo are the worst of the worst.  They are individuals that have attempted to kill U.S. soldiers and citizens without following the Geneva Convention laws human rights groups hold so dear.)

  • A lack of any reference on the home page to the location of arguably the greatest affront to human rights in the world today:  North Korea, or as they refer to it deep in their website: The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.  (When in reality, their non-military citizens are starving, they have no access to free information, and any citizens found to claim Christ are imprisoned and/or executed without trial.)

Don’t be fooled, folks.  These people do care about human suffering, but when asked who the instigator of the human rights violations is and which nation has the ability (and in fact leads the way to) improve human rights all across the world, they say, “The United States,” for the former, not the latter.

Look no further than the volume at which these human rights groups scream when Iraq is mentioned.  They never discussed holding Saddam accountable for his violations of human rights (ask the Kurds) in the 1980’s & ‘90’s.  But now it is President Bush that has created a humanitarian crisis in Iraq, according to these America-haters.

If we’re going to be honest with ourselves, we need to state some obvious facts:

  • No reasonable American is against human rights.  In fact, I'm offended at the thought of groups like AI existing and insinuating that they’re “more” for human rights than other Americans.

  • Millions of Americans work every day to improve the lives of individuals all over the world.  Who are these millions, you ask?  Christians, that’s who.  Go into just about any area of the world, even those places where it is illegal to be a Christian, and you’ll find the influence and presence of Christians benefiting people of all nations and tribes.

  • America is the most generous nation on earth in the history of the world.  No nation has given more to improve lives and promote human rights than The United States.  We currently give food and supplies to our enemies.

You may fool some of the public, AI & Friends, but you don’t fool XEKE.com.  Take off your “humanitarian” mask, come out of the human rights closet, and reveal yourself as the Blame America First crowd that you really are.
