"It should be the highest ambition of every American to extend his views beyond himself, and to bear in mind that his conduct will not only affect himself, his country, and his immediate posterity; but that its influence may be co-extensive with the world, and stamp political happiness or misery on ages yet unborn."

-- George Washington
(letter to the Legislature of Pennsylvania, September 5, 1789)

"Patriotism is as much a virtue as justice, and is as necessary for the support of societies as natural affection is for the support of families."

Open Letter re: Socialized Medicine -- Guests, and Friends of XEKE.com, Patrick & Marissa McGlone
Although on the surface it might seem helpful, socialized medicine (or whatever new term is being used for it at the moment) will not be helpful. It is vital to resist socialized medicine in this country for the sake of safeguarding our personal freedoms economically as well as fundamentally. There are few other programs that could strip our rights away so swiftly. Under socialized medicine of any type, a patient will have... Read the full column

The columns have been slow in coming from us here at XEKE.com, and for our regular readers, we apologize. Life is moving on. Zach's had his hands full with two little ones and an upcoming election, and family and work have been busy for Ryan, as well.

It is also disheartening to feel completely hopeless about the direction of the country under Barack Obama's leadership rule. In less than 200 days, he's spent more money (money that we don't have) than all past presidents combined (including billions to ACORN to cement his rule), he's nationalized the domestic auto industry (while claiming he doesn't want to run it), he's set the precedent of a president firing a private company's CEO, he's apologized to the world for a litany of things that require no apology, he's demonstrated nothing more than weakness to the world during his foreign tours, he's become a master at saying one thing and the doing the exact opposite, he's nominated a racist judicial-lightweight to the Supreme Court, and he's subverted the U.S. Constitution and the checks and balances intended therein by appointing czar after czar to manage particular sectors of American society with no congressional oversight (not that this congress would care, but the precedent has been set). His appointments are ivory tower busy-bodies with little real world experience (Toxic Tim of the Treasury... shoot, even Joe Biden). The micromanaging of the U.S. economy is setting us back, and the next president, if he has any shred of Conservatism in him, will have to spend his first 2 years simply undoing the damage that Obama has done to the private sector.

Is it clear how we at XEKE.com feel about the current goings-on? Because we have a worldview that goes beyond an earthly grave, we're not hopeless about life in the long-term, but we're pretty wary about America in the short-run. I encourage you to listen to the Conservative minds on AM, read Conservative publications, and attend Tea Parties. The weapon required to win back America is your mind. Arm it.

The next column that will appear hear will likely be a review of Atlas Shrugged. If you have not read this novel, pick up a copy and get into it. The author was a prophet, and her story has never been more relevant.

Why I Lost My Protesting Virginity
I use the term "immoral" very deliberately to describe our tax code. There is a term for the act of requiring one man to work against his will for the benefit of another man. We fought a war to end this practice. It is not an exaggeration to call our level of taxation... Read the full column

We Shall Not Go Quietly Into The Night - By David M. Huntwork

Don't Apologize for Conservatism. Believe in it. -- by Ohio State Senator Kevin Coughlin
Since 1996, I've been fortunate to win elections in swing legislative districts in Democrat-rich northeast Ohio. I didn't do that by moderating my positions or checking my values at the door. I sold the values and the vision... Read the full column

BUYER'S REMORSE: President-Elect Barack Obama
We are in a rough economy. I have said that for years. I informed clients a year ago that they should consider exiting the equities (stock) markets, and become liquid. This current economic state was predicted over a year ago by Jim Cramer on "Mad Money." A colleague of mine asked me before the election, how long I thought the economy would struggle. My answer was... Read the full column

President Obama: A New Era in American Politics
It's official. In the election of 2008, America has reaped what she has sown over the course of many years. Among the American electorate, the seeds of ignorance, greed, class-warfare, laziness and dependence have been sown. It started with the New Deal, was magnified in the Great Society & the War on Poverty, and has been promoted in and on everything from Kindergarten bulletin boards, where words like "hope," "diversity," and "progress" are taught to our children as the highest ideals, to the headlines of the nation's largest print media sources. Finally, the crop has been harvested and we are now left with... Read the full column

"No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain these blessings than United America. Wondrously strange, then, and much to be regretted indeed would it be, were we to neglect the means and to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly; I cannot believe it will ever come to pass."

-- George Washington
(letter to Benjamin Lincoln, June 29, 1788)
